Rodavia is close to the site of the Roman Camp and within easy walking distance of Felbrigg Hall – owned by The National Trust – which stands in its own 1750-acre estate. There is a popular inn nearby which takes its name from the Roman site.
One of the finest 17th century houses in the country, Felbrigg Hall has its original 18th century furniture and paintings. Facilities include woodland and lakeside walks.
A National Trust attraction in the region is at Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge, Suffolk. One of Britain’s most important archaeological finds was made at Sutton Hoo revealing evidence of Anglo Saxon pagan kings, ships, burials, treasure and warriors.
There are numerous places of interest in the area including Sheringham Park, Sandringham House, The Queen’s country retreat, and the classic 18th century Holkham Hall, home to seven generations of the Earls of Leicester. Amongst the attractions at Cromer are the summer pier show, which provides a high standard of entertainment, and the zoo.
At Sheringham there is a standard gauge steam railway which runs through scenic countryside and the famous Norfolk Broads are not far away.
There are popular beaches at Cromer, The Runtons and Wells, a bird sanctuary at Cley and a waterfowl park and gardens at Pensthorpe near Fakenham. These are just some of the area’s places of interest which will appeal to all ages.
